BASIC COMPETENCES OF A MILITARY SAILOR IN THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGIC PRIORITIES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDUSTRY

Abstract

The article outlines the formation of competencies that a future officer acquires in the educational environment: 1) command, leadership competencies to allow the post-graduate to effectively perform official duties, carry out organizational and managerial activities and exercise the command over the unit using his own authority and demonstrating high results; 2) socio-psychological, moral, ethical, linguistic competencies to ensure the achievement of high results in the process of professional activity based on effective communication with colleagues and subordinates as well as on the skills of self-controlled professional behavior; 3) general practical competencies to contribute to the effective performance of professional duties, the formation of which is recognized as a strategic direction of the development of the national Navy; 4) scientific-analytical and project competencies which are to be professionally oriented to solving the problems of developing the scientific basis for the further development of the Armed Forces and the Navy, as well as to train highly qualified officers capable of solving military management problems of increased complexity. The process of acquiring these competencies is gradual and influenced by the factors of subjective and objective nature, in particular, the need to adapt the freshmen and graduates to the new conditions and requirements in the shortest possible time along with the stressful saturation of the educational process which is likely to cause negative personality transformations. The purpose of the article lain down to outline the future officer’s main competencies to be formed by the documents focused on the implementation of NATO standards has been achieved. This makes it possible to conclude the educational process of the future officers in domestic higher education institutions is a phased, purposeful, organized, and systematic activity on forming and developing the competencies necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.
